"You have to wonder at times what you're doing out there. Over the years, I've given myself a thousand reasons to keep running, but it always comes back to where it started. It comes down to self-satisfaction and a sense of achievement."

Tuesday, February 14, 2012 at 08:11PM Spun for 30 minutes on the trainer followed by a leisurely 15-minute transition period used to stop myself from sweating before pulling on cold-weather gear for a somewhat strained 45-minute run.
Sunday, February 12, 2012 at 05:14PM Run: Horseneck Beach to Chandanais
Distance: 8.75
Time: 1:09:41/7:57
Brutal wind on the coast but I was dressed well and kept the pace/effort fairly steady.

Time: 33:15/8:17
Monday, January 30, 2012 at 08:36PM Spent an hour on the trainer: 15 minutes easy spin, 30 minutes moderate, 15 easy. Felt good to get the legs pumping again.
Sunday, January 29, 2012 at 02:13PM Run: Goosebury Island out to the tower
Distance: 10.3
Time: 1:21:31/7:54
Epic beach day. Kite-surfers, dog walkers, fellow runner out in force this morning. Playlist highlight - Champagne Supernova, a great powder day anthem that seems to apply equally well for surfers rejoicing in wind-blown waves. A nice toast to Horseneck Beach.
Friday, January 27, 2012 at 02:50PM Run: Hazard Road
Distance: 5
Time: No watch today but certainly right around 8s.
Light rain at the start progressed into steady cold drizzle 2 miles in, along with a good wind to boot. So much prefer this to running on a treadmill.
Tuesday, January 24, 2012 at 01:50PM Run: Beacon Hill Road via King Park
Distance: 7.4
Time: 57:49/7:49
Beautiful spring day, 50 degrees and sunny with nice ocean breeze. Shorts and t-shirt on Jan. 24.
Wednesday, January 18, 2012 at 09:42PM Run: Horseneck Beach to Chandanais.
Distance: 8.76
Time: 1:09:08/7:54
I intended to run about 6.5 but my weak headlamp failed to illuminate my exit off the beach path and through the campground. So I pressed forward to West Beach Road and endured a chilling wind in my face for the last four miles back. Happy with my steady miles despite the conditions but my body is noticing that my running has been inconsistent of late.
Wednesday, January 11, 2012 at 03:34PM Run: Eisenhower House
Distance: 6
Time: 47:44/7:57
Looks like 8 is my winter survival pace (even if I am in shorts and a t-shirt).
Tuesday, January 10, 2012 at 01:35PM Run: Cluny School plus
Distance: 7
Time: 56:34/8:05
Ran smart, didn't press the pace. Good easy maintenance run through slight achiness.
Friday, January 6, 2012 at 01:50PM Run: Cliff Walk, First Beach, Tuckerman, Purgatory and Bellevue.
Distance: 6.32
Time: 49:27/7:49
Knees and lower back aching a bit now that ski season is here. At least that's what I think is the cause of it.
Monday, January 2, 2012 at 05:10PM Run: John Reed Road, out to the state police barracks and back.
Distance: 7.2
Time: 55:35/7:43
Thought I wanted to go longer today but my body (specifically my lower back) wasn't feeling it after a week of skiing. Sunny and windy, temp in the 40s very unJanuary-like, More than a dozen kite-surfers were out along Horseneck and Baker's. Way cool.
